DOI:

The boundary layer forming over a sharp cone at Mach 8 has been measured using non-intrusive laser diagnostics in a blowdown wind tunnel. Temperature profiles have been obtained using Coherent AntiStokes Raman Scattering (CARS) and streamwise velocity profiles using Femtosecond Laser Electronic Excitation Tagging (FLEET). Conditions have been swept through a range of Reynolds numbers representing laminar, transitional, and turbulent flow. Results are compared with historical probe-based measurements, recent high-fidelity computations, and theoretical relationships including the velocitytemperature correlation.
