Abstract: For an in-depth understanding of oil-refrigerant two-phase rotor-stator gap flows, as they occur in rotary positive displacement compressors (RPDCs), rigorous investigations on simplified experimental surrogates of RPDCs are necessary. For the diagnostics of such two-phase gap flows, defocusing particle tracking velocimetry (DPTV) is foreseen to be employed for the liquid phase diagnostics alongside interferometric particle imaging (IPI) and high-speed imaging for the diagnostics of dispersed gas bubbles.
